Re: new moderator!
Tue, June 19, 2007 - 5:57 PMHi Mickey,
Does this mean you know all the answers?
Ha ha. Just kidding. -

Re: new moderator!

It just means I'm tired of checking in and seeing that asshat's picture. :-) -

Re: new moderator!
Thu, September 27, 2007 - 8:05 PMDo we know that the moderator is inactive on Tribe in general? -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 10:09 AMI would say a profile which indicates he joined tribe on 03/18/04 and last updated his profile on 04/15/04, has no friends, and shows only one tribe (this one), is inactive. :-) -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 10:20 AMIndeed. Well sadly I have adopted too many tribes, I think I am moderating 5 now...or is it 6? Otherwise I'd volunteer. How about you Mickey? -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 10:26 AMI have no desire (or time) to be moderator of anything. :-) I just desire better moderators. -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 10:49 AMWell your complaint doesn't carry too much weight if it is a free service and you're unwilling to volunteer. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 12:46 PMI sent a message to Alistair about posts for a new moderator to see if he is interested or if I get any response. -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:12 PMI actually sent him a message last year. Good luck.

Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:13 PM< Well your complaint doesn't carry too much weight if it is a free service and you're unwilling to volunteer. >
Nonsense. One can always call for new management and not want to manage. -
-
Re: new moderator!
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:13 PMBesise, if *I* take the job, I'll just disband the tribe. -
-
"Nonsense. One can always call for new management and not want to manage"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:51 PMIndeed, but again it doesn't carry much weight.
Remember this childhood classic?
"One day the Little Red Hen found a Seed....'Who will plant the Seed?' ... the Pig said, 'Not I,'and the Cat said, 'Not I,' and the Rat said, 'Not I.'..."
Remember how it ends?
Why is such a fable imparted to children? Because the benefits of a free community are the result of cooperative work. You can protest all you want, but if you're unwilling to fix your own issues with this tribe, then you are practicing no more than idle complaint.
:) -
-
Re: "Nonsense. One can always call for new management and not want to manage"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:59 PMI do not see how this fable applies here. -

"Besise, if *I* take the job, I'll just disband the tribe. "
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:52 PMToxic. -
-
Re: "Besise, if *I* take the job, I'll just disband the tribe. "
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 2:55 PMAs I said. I'm trying to fix the issue. But if it makes you feel better to have someone like me be the moderator, I'll do it. And I'll also disband it as I previously said. -
-
"if it makes you feel better to have someone like me be the moderator, I'll do it. And I'll also disband it as I previously said. "
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:10 PMWouldn't it be less toxic and less reminiscent of a toddler's temper tantrum if you just quit the tribe?
Result of you disbanding the tribe: physics explained does not exist to you.
Result of you just quitting: see above result -
-
Re: "if it makes you feel better to have someone like me be the moderator, I'll do it. And I'll also disband it as I previously said. "
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:13 PMI was never debating the utility of this tribe. I've been up front that I don't want to moderate anything. I'm merely pointing out that if you don't want MY solution, perhaps you can help find a better one. It's a trivial thing, really. Why such heat?

Re: "Besise, if *I* take the job, I'll just disband the tribe. "
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:11 PMNonsense and more nonsense. If you serve on a board of directors, and you note that leadership has to change, it is a very proactive thing to bring that discussion to the table, even if the discussion is a "demand" for change. There's nothing toxic or non-cooperative about it.
OTOH, giving grief instead of finding a middle-ground solution is definitively an impediment. -
-
"If you serve on a board of directors"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:17 PMThe fact of the matter is though, that you do not serve. You do no work and are unwilling to do the work. You yourself said that you would sooner disband than responsibly moderate. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:18 PMAs a good collaborator, perhaps you'd like to counter my suggestion with a better one? -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 3:45 PMWell, rather than delete the tribe, I would first suggest that you not be so attached to the picture, let it go. As for finding another moderator, maybe we could go on other tribes and ask if anyone is interested? -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 5:08 PMAn excellent suggestion. :-D I'll ask the Quantum Physics folks. Who else is there to ask? -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 12:26 AMHeck, I'll moderate it if no one else will. I don't promise to dedicate a lot of time to it, but at least I'll change the picture. ;) (I've been known to respond when poked with a spoon, too. Much like a badger. So, you know, you'd have that as a plus, too.) -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 1:25 AMI will be happy with iHod as moderator.
Does that mean you know all the answers?
Ha ha. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 5:17 AMIf iHod knows all the answers, that's a major bonus.
Plus, I've got a badger. I mean, a spoon. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 5:19 AMWhat say you, Paula? Go with iHod? (I don't mean "go" with iHod, you're probably already married...) -
-
Sure!
Sat, September 29, 2007 - 7:33 AMDang and I joined General Physics to recruit too. But problem solved eh?
As for activity, I think we're all good with your occasional activity, and the only thing on the table as of now is changing the tribe pic. :) As for my being married, nope not me, but my boyfriend might be upset if I went with someone else. ; P
Thanks iHod. -

Sun, September 30, 2007 - 5:44 PM"...but my boyfriend might be upset if I went with someone else."
I'm sorry, but we only accept hard experimental evidence around here. ;-p
(And this used to be such a family oriented tribe. *sigh*)

I don't even know all the questions. :) -

Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sun, October 7, 2007 - 8:01 AMWell, I made the request. Has anyone heard anything? -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sun, October 7, 2007 - 1:51 PMI mailed them too. Not a peep so far. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sun, October 7, 2007 - 3:35 PMI'm sure they've had their hands full recently. Let's hit 'em up again later this week. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Sat, February 2, 2008 - 1:56 PMWe should probably make the request again, eh? -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 12:38 PMGo for it. I will mail them again, but it would probably help to have others do so too. So far I have not gotten any response. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 10:47 AMI know they've had their hands full, but I just made the request again.
Nice rose, BTW. -
-
Re: "If you serve on a board of directors"
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 9:34 PMdude's pic is so ... just.. SO...
I almost think he is someone important and famous. I keep thinking he looks like a young Hawking. He doesn't, but if Hawking looked more like Bill Gates when he was younger, we might have a winner.
